The Opportunity

Are you ready for a new and exciting challenge? We are looking for a Shepherd General with a positive attitude to join our West Coast Dairy Support team. This property is located 10 minutes from Westport and carries approximately 19,000 su per year over 700ha. Stock units include a mix of bulls, steers, dairy heifers and a small flock of ewes and lambs.

You will be working among a small and dedicated team where your role is exposed to a variety of work including fencing, tractor driving, stock work and animal health management. This role would suit an individual with a passion for finishing cattle who is looking to further their knowledge and experience in farming.

A tidy 2 bedroom house is available. The location offers many recreational activities nearby: cycling tracks, hiking, hunting, fishing and skiing. 

You will bring:

  • 1-2 years’ experience as a shepherd
  • Exceptional communication skills and great attention to detail
  • Tractor driving experience preferred
  • Minimum of 2 well controlled dogs
  • Be a motivated team player who is also able to work unsupervised
  • Current and full NZ drivers licence.
